Mayne mail posts install easily over a standard 4x4 wood post. Bury about 2-3ft in the ground and leave 4ft above the ground. Slide the decorative sleeve over the post, attach the paper holder arm to the post, and then secure your mailbox of choice to the arm. Mailboxes can be bolted directly to this arm using a standard nut and bolt combination.

Ok. So I purchased this after reading through all the reviews and I'm glad I did. My husband and I installed this and mailbox in less than 30 min!!! We used a 1/4" drill bit to predrill holes in the arm to accommodate the mailbox that we used. The bolts, washers, and screws to mount this cover were all included in the package. We literally just installed this over the 4x4 that we already had in the ground since it was in pretty good shape, which made installation so much easier. The screws that came with it were a bit cheap and actually stripped out before they even touched the 4x4. We had some 3 1/2 wood screws on hand so we just used those instead. Worked fine! Also, I boi g ht 2 3/4" numbers which fit perfectly.Literally my ONLY complaint is that the top edges of the arm/newspaper holder where the mailbox sits were pretty rough. They were frayed and uneven.. if that makes sense. We could have used a box cutter or sandpaper and sanded it down so it was smooth, but we didn't since the mailbox was sitting on top of it anyway. It's not noticeable. But I'm mentioning it bc I feel like it's a careless mistake to have not smoothed out the surface since this post cover is a bit on the pricey side.All in all, we love this post cover! It adds the curb appeal that we were hoping for.
